Encon Construction delivered the new purpose-built reception building located to the south side of the runway at Bristol Airport within the existing Silver Zone car park.
The project involved the construction of a new reception building with associated external works and landscaping and the construction of 52,000m2 car park with associated drainage and roads. The two sites were in separate areas of the Silver Zone Car Park which remained live during the construction phase.
The reception building itself was constructed to a high-quality specification in keeping with the main Terminal Building. The ground floor consisted of a Reception Area covering both departures and arrivals incorporating Terrazzo flooring, back painted glass, Egger wall panels and feature ceilings. These main public areas were flanked by lobbies, key room, checking room, public WC’s and stair/lift lobby.
The first floor contained open plan offices for Ground Transportation staff, meeting rooms and staff room together with an IT Hub/server room and comfort facilities.
Relevant mechanical and electrical services were linked back to the terminal building and controlled by a BMS system. The installation incorporated capacity for future development at the airport.
