Our project for Lidl in Pentwyn involved the demolition of an existing edge of town warehouse unit, clearing the site and constructing a brand new store with new parking facilities.
The works involved the construction of Poroton block walls with concrete columns, steel roof structure with Alucobond roof and wall cladding, external render, aluminium curtain walling and full M&E installations. Externally we provided a reinforced concrete delivery ramp, block paving car park spaces, tarmac surfacing entrance, landscaping and fencing.
The construction period was efficiently managed on site to ensure that the Client’s handover took place as planned; this enabled Lidl to complete the interior fit out of the store and open the following week.
The construction works uncovered some unknown boundary conditions and underground conditions, plus with some updated specifications from Lidl resulted in the Final Account increasing to £2million. However Client satisfaction was sustained throughout as the Contract Completion date was maintained and cost implications were kept to a minimum.
