Environmental sustainability is a key element of our CSR, Sustainability, and Carbon Footprint policies, and concern for the environment and promoting a broader sustainability agenda are integral to Encon’s professional activities and the management of the organisation. We promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities.
In 2019, Encon established a Carbon Zero Taskforce and have been putting processes in place for us to reduce our carbon footprint, minimise our carbon emissions, adopting a green travel policy and offsetting any remaining carbon emissions by the government’s 2050 targets. In April 2022, the business took another step forward by employing a Sustainably Consultants, Balanced Energy and appointing our Bid Manager as Carbon Zero Champion. Tahra also carries out supplier engagement educational workshops to provide suppliers with information on how to achieve best practice on reducing our carbon.
Encon’s Carbon Reduction Plan is inline with the UK Government’s PPN 0621 Technical standard for the Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans Guidance.
As part of our Construction Education Programme we offer local school primary schools the opportunity to take part in a Bug Hotel event using recycled materials collected on site and by the school.
The event is not only great team building event, but an excellent opportunity for pupils to learn about sustainability. New for 2021 is secondary school carbon literacy training, and family orientated environmental sustainability projects.
