Bristol Airport Main Gate Phase 1 Handover Complete

We are very pleased to be able to share images of our Bristol Airport Main Gate Phase 1 handover!

Bristol Airport have engaged Encon to refurbish the Main Gate which provides access from landside to the airside areas. The brief is to create an additional lane resulting in two airside access lanes. The work entails minor earthworks, drainage and ducting, kerbs, concrete and tarmac pavements, high security fencing, a cladded steel canopy, installation of substantial hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) barriers and M&E both of which are contractor design portions.

The M&E consists of CCTV cameras, access control, fire detection and lighting all of which are connected to the airport’s existing systems. The main challenges of the project are working in a restricted area from a security and space point of view and maintaining the traffic flow through the existing gate such that critical airside deliveries are not delayed.

We have just handed over Phase 1 of the project and now moved on to the refurbishment of the existing two other lanes (phases 2 and 3) which again must be executed individually in order to maintain both security and traffic flow to the airside areas. The other half of the cladded canopy will be completed in phase 2.

Congratulations to the site team on successful handover of phase 1!
