Alongside Encon and our client, Caerphilly County Borough Council, the scheme was developed in partnership with AECOM, Hatcher Prichard, CD Grey & Associates and Hicks Titley Partnership.
The main works comprise of 999 sq. m of floor space split into three industrial buildings. Each of the three buildings contain five starter units of between 50 and 100 sqm. The scheme includes a small common services room, external vehicle access and car parking and external, landscaping works.
The site hosted a number of existing units and saw transformation of underutilised land in Rhymney into high quality, light industrial factory units as part of the investment in infrastructure in the South East Wales region. The scheme not only enhances the local economy but provided much needed employment opportunities for the local community of Rhymney and the surrounding wider community.
This project was made possible with funding from Caerphilly County Borough Council and the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
Caerphilly Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for Economic Development, Cllr. Sean Morgan commented, “I am pleased that this project is moving at pace and the contractors Encon Construction Ltd are currently progressing works on the site. It is thanks to continued partnership working with our colleagues in WEFO that we are able to transform this unused parcel of land to expand an existing estate to boost the local economy.”
