As part of Encon’s commitment to leaving a positive legacy through our Bristol Airport Main Gate project, we are proud to continue supporting local charities dedicated to the health, safety, and wellbeing of the Bristol and North Somerset communities. We recently had the privilege of meeting the Critical Care Team at the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC). Led by Joe Hughes, we received a guided tour of their facilities and learned firsthand about the life-saving work they perform daily. In alignment with our support for essential community services, Encon has donated towards the annual cost of defibrillator pads, a critical resource in GWAAC’s emergency response efforts.
Each year, the GWAAC team responds to over 2,000 missions, with more than a third involving people experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. This funding will help equip the GWAAC team to respond swiftly to life-threatening situations, such as that of four-year-old Jasmine. Jasmine experienced a respiratory arrest at home and required immediate emergency care, including anaesthesia, which ultimately saved her life. Her mother, Niky, shared, “There is not a day that has gone by since where we have not thought of you all. You saved Jasmine’s life, and ours, that day.”
The Main Gate project forms part of Bristol Airport’s extensive, multi-million-pound transformation initiative, designed to support 12 million passengers per year to use the airport. This project represents an exciting opportunity not only to advance regional infrastructure but also to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the community. By integrating community-focused support into our construction goals, we’re not just building for the present but also investing in a better future for everyone who depends on these vital services.
